Livelihood Officer

About the role

The Livelihood Officer will lead technical implementation of the RISE (Resilience Increased Small holders in Ethiopia) project across Dera, Fogera and Ferta districts. Working directly with communities, the officer will promote climate‑smart and regenerative agriculture, land rehabilitation, and financial inclusion to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable families.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update annual and quarterly activity plans in coordination with internal departments and external partners.
• Monitor and support FMNR, agroforestry, soil and water conservation, and regenerative agriculture activities.
• Facilitate participatory beneficiary selection, income‑generating activity prioritisation, and life‑skills training.
• Provide technical assistance on climate‑smart agriculture, financial inclusion (S4T), local value‑chain development, and natural resource management.
• Coordinate procurement and timely delivery of farmer inputs and organise weekly field planning meetings.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, represent World Vision in settlement‑level livelihood working groups, and foster collaboration with community‑based facilitators.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or proven experience in agriculture, natural resource management, rural development or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience implementing livelihood or climate‑smart agriculture projects in Ethiopia or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of FMNR, agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and financial inclusion mechanisms.
• Ability to work closely with community members, women’s groups, and youth to build capacity and ensure project sustainability.
