Manager - Payment Systems

About the role

Microsave consulting is seeking a senior Manager‑Payment Systems to lead the design and implementation of Ethiopia’s national payment architecture. You will drive financial inclusion and improve government efficiency by integrating the G2P Disbursement Hub with the Ethio Pay‑IPS, treasury systems, and the Fayda digital ID platform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and oversee the core payment hub, ensuring seamless integration with Ethio Pay‑IPS, IFMIS/IBEX treasury systems, and the Fayda digital ID.
• Lead API design, interoperability protocols, and reconciliation processes in collaboration with EthSwitch, NBE and the Ministry of Finance.
• Define and implement account‑mapping and account‑bridge mechanisms to enable real‑time settlement.
• Translate technical specifications into policy language for government stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to the Team Lead and coordinate with external partners and regulators.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in payment systems architecture, digital financial infrastructure or fintech platform design, preferably in government or development contexts.
• Proven track record working on national payment switches, instant payment systems, or interoperability frameworks in Sub‑Saharan Africa, with direct experience in Ethiopia preferred.
• Experience engaging with central banks, financial regulators or national payment councils on technical standards.
• Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related technical discipline.
