Market Systems Development Advisor for LIWAY Project

About the role

The Market Systems Development (MSD) Advisor will join SNV Ethiopia’s LIWAY programme, focusing on the agri‑food sector. The role supports the design and implementation of market‑based interventions that improve urban livelihoods for women and youth.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse market failures affecting poor women and youth and identify entry points for intervention.
• Develop and pilot strategic market interventions in collaboration with private companies and public institutions.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment of incentives and capabilities.
• Monitor and evaluate intervention outcomes, documenting lessons learned and scaling successful approaches.
• Provide technical guidance on MSD methodology to project teams and partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, development studies, agribusiness, or a related field.
• Significant experience applying Market Systems Development approaches, preferably in agri‑food contexts.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government, private sector, and civil society.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a results‑oriented mindset.
