Mechanical Engineering Supervisor

About the role

Minopex is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor for the Kurmuk Gold Mine in Ethiopia. The role diagnoses and maintains machinery and equipment according to technical specifications and sound engineering practice, and supports production through reliable equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns, determine resource needs and order spares according to company procedures.
• Perform inspections in line with Mine Health and Safety Act regulations and analyse breakdowns from the previous shift.
• Oversee subordinates daily so that maintenance meets organisational standards.
• Coordinate and monitor equipment availability to meet production parameters and analyse equipment efficiency to recommend improvements.
• Keep equipment information and changes flowing to stakeholders to minimise production delays.
• Ensure installations and equipment are safe and in good working order after tasks, and attend breakdowns immediately to reduce downtime.
• Determine work schedules with engineering and process teams, consulting production teams on maintenance that affects production.
• Carry out administrative duties for accurate records, budget compliance and spares availability.
• Enforce Minopex safety standards.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED qualifications such as the N3 Certificate.
• Valid Section 13 trade test or Section 26(D) certificate.
• Valid driver's licence (code B, EB or C1) and own transport for callouts.
• Minimum 10 years in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3 to 4 years of supervisory experience.
• English proficiency.
