Medical Video Host Intern (Unpaid)

About the role

The Medical Video Host Intern will support Selam Cardiac Care Center’s patient‑education program by presenting and hosting short medical videos on cardiac health. Working on‑site in Addis Ababa, the intern will gain hands‑on experience in medical communication, on‑camera presentation and basic video production within a specialized cardiac hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Present and host educational videos, introducing topics and interviewing clinicians.
• Prepare scripts or talking points and ensure clinical accuracy by coordinating with medical staff.
• Participate in video recordings and live educational sessions, supporting basic production activities.
• Engage with patients and visitors to explain the purpose of the educational materials.
• Help shape content that is clear, accessible and culturally sensitive.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills with clear spoken English (and local languages as applicable) and confident on‑camera presence.
• Customer‑service mindset, empathy and professionalism when interacting with patients, families and staff.
• Interest in healthcare or media, preferably studying health sciences, communications, journalism or related fields.
• Willingness to work full‑time on‑site, follow hospital protocols and manage time effectively.

Required skills

• Basic familiarity with video recording and social media platforms.
• Script writing for medical content.
