Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer (Freelance, Addis Ababa)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer to join our team on a freelance, on‑call basis in Addis Ababa. The professional will deliver break‑and‑fix support for enterprise infrastructure, combining on‑site and remote assistance while maintaining high customer service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote break‑and‑fix support for networking and infrastructure incidents.
• Deploy, configure and manage Nutanix HCI environments (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization and network issues.
• Resolve network connectivity problems (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
• Implement and support backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Respond to critical incidents within agreed response times.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams on infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, incident reports and service records.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, networking or IT support engineering.
• Valid CCNA certification with at least a 90 % pass score on the induction assessment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Ability to work independently in customer‑facing environments with a professional demeanor.

Required skills

• Nutanix AOS, AHV and Prism.
• VMware and/or Hyper‑V.
• TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• PowerShell and/or Python scripting.
• CCNA (Cisco).
• Optional: Nutanix certification (NCP or higher), AWS, Azure, GCP, Ansible, Terraform.
