Plant Director

About the role

The leading international industrial group in cement manufacturing seeks an experienced expatriate Plant Director to lead its Ethiopian operation. Reporting to senior executive leadership, you will be responsible for the overall performance, safety and profitability of the cement plant.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day leadership for all plant functions including production, mining, maintenance, engineering, procurement, logistics and distribution.
• Achieve production, quality, cost and efficiency targets while ensuring compliance with HSE standards and local regulations.
• Drive continuous‑improvement and industrial‑excellence programmes, optimise asset utilisation and monitor performance through KPIs.
• Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets, control costs and safeguard plant profitability.
• Lead, coach and develop a multicultural workforce, oversee succession planning, training and employee engagement.
• Support customer‑focused operational culture and ensure delivery performance meets market demand.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in industrial/plant operations, preferably in cement or heavy manufacturing.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi‑disciplinary teams in a demanding environment.
