Program Assistant & Partnerships Internship (ICT)

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a motivated intern to support its Information, Communication and Technology Services Section. Working under the Chief of ICTSS and the NetCom Team Leader, you will assist the Publications, Conference, and Knowledge Management Division with technical and operational tasks related to network infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the installation, configuration, and testing of new LAN and WLAN equipment, including wireless access points.
• Assist in upgrading existing network components, conduct site surveys, and perform signal‑strength analysis to ensure optimal coverage and performance.
• Help diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, bandwidth bottlenecks, and device configuration errors.
• Support firewall rule reviews, document security incidents, and contribute to performance monitoring reports.
• Maintain network topology diagrams, device inventories, and assist with firmware/software updates.
• Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides as needed.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in network infrastructure and ICT support.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team.
