Programme Associate – Gambela, Ethiopia

About the role

The Programme Associate will support UNFPA’s country programme in Gambela, Ethiopia. Working under the Regional Programme Officer, the role contributes to the design, planning and management of initiatives that advance sexual and reproductive health, gender‑based violence prevention, and population data collection, especially in remote and conflict‑affected areas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage data inputs and assist in the synthesis of population and health information.
• Provide logistical support for field activities, including coordination of travel, supplies and stakeholder meetings.
• Monitor project implementation against UNFPA standards and follow up on recommendations.
• Support the development of mechanisms and systems to ensure compliance with UNFPA procedures.
• Contribute to reporting on programme outcomes related to family planning, maternal health, gender‑based violence and humanitarian‑development‑peace nexus.

Required profile

• University degree in public health, social sciences, development studies or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in Ethiopia or similar settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work in remote or conflict‑affected environments.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Commitment to UNFPA’s values and the protection of human rights.
