Project Director – Multi‑Sector Emergency Programme

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Project Director to lead a multi‑sectoral emergency programme that supports vulnerable children in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Reporting to senior leadership, you will provide strategic vision, ensure compliance with donor agreements and humanitarian standards, and drive results across all project components.

Key responsibilities

• Define and steer the overall strategic direction of the emergency project, aligning with World Vision’s national and global emergency strategies.
• Maintain full accountability for programmatic, financial, compliance, safeguarding and risk performance across sectors and regions.
• Lead annual, quarterly and contingency planning, adapting priorities to evolving humanitarian needs and access conditions.
• Chair senior management meetings, ensuring clear decision‑making, accountability and follow‑up among technical, operations, MEAL, finance and partner teams.
• Represent the project with donors, government ministries, UN agencies, clusters and other humanitarian partners, securing relationships and advocating for access and protection.
• Oversee consortium and partner performance, ensuring compliance with agreements and fostering capacity building of local organisations.
• Implement robust quality‑assurance, monitoring, accountability and learning systems, reviewing performance against indicators and donor commitments.
• Provide leadership during crises, access constraints, outbreaks or security incidents to maintain continuity of lifesaving services.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in managing large‑scale, multi‑sectoral humanitarian programmes.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, humanitarian principles and emergency response frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with high‑level donors, government officials and UN coordination mechanisms.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience in partnership management, including consortium oversight and localisation strategies.
• Track record of delivering results in complex, insecure environments.
