Project Manager – Ethiopia

About the role

Cowater is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead operations for a long‑term, part‑time initiative in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will oversee technical, procurement, and logistics services, ensuring high‑quality delivery while coordinating with a diverse set of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain overall quality and management of all project services.
• Prepare and update key project documents, including annual work plans, budgets, and financial reports.
• Plan and coordinate administrative, financial, and logistics management services, ensuring compliance with schedules and deliverable quality.
• Develop and sustain networks with government, civil society, donors, and private‑sector partners.
• Manage procurement of goods and services, including engagement of local subject‑matter experts.
• Monitor project progress, address issues promptly, and provide regular briefings on status and concerns.
• Coordinate activities of project personnel, sub‑contractors, and support providers.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience managing international development programmes, especially long‑term, high‑value projects.
• Proven track record preparing annual work plans, financial and narrative reports, and risk management documents.
• Experience working with multiple development stakeholders such as government authorities and donors (e.g., Global Affairs Canada, FCDO, USAID).
• Demonstrated ability to manage the full project lifecycle from proposal to reporting and communications.
