Project Officer – Wholegrain Transformation

About the role

GAIN is looking for a Project Officer to lead and support wholegrain transformation activities in Ethiopia. The position is fixed‑term until December 2027 and will be based in Addis Ababa, working closely with government agencies, private sector partners and consortium members.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen wholegrain processors’ capacity by providing technical assistance on technology adoption, quality assurance, business development, financial linkage and market connections.
• Design and deliver wholegrain nutritional awareness campaigns for smallholder farmers, schools and other institutions.
• Lead household‑level nutrition education campaigns that promote wholegrain consumption in partnership with government actors and project partners.
• Manage project activities, track progress and deliverables, and coordinate regular review meetings.
• Prepare documentation of findings, recommendations and progress reports.
• Consult with the Project Manager/Coordinator on course corrections, change requests and issue resolution.
• Contribute to drafting project documentation such as results frameworks and work plans in line with GAIN Project Management Guidelines.
• Ensure activities comply with GAIN policies, gender and safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, business development support and quality assurance systems.
• Experience designing and delivering nutrition education and behaviour‑change campaigns, especially promoting wholegrain consumption.
• Strong project coordination and analytical skills, with ability to identify risks and support adaptive management.
• Effective communicator and relationship builder able to work with government, private sector and development partners.
