Protection (GBV Response) Officer

About the role

The Protection (GBV Response) Officer will lead the implementation of Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS) programmes, ensuring safe, confidential, and accessible services for women and girls. The role combines community‑based protection, psychosocial support, and survivor‑centred GBV response in challenging field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Implement WGFS programming in line with minimum standards.
• Maintain a safe, confidential space that promotes empowerment and psychosocial well‑being.
• Provide prevention and response services for gender‑based violence.
• Facilitate refugee‑led women ownership of WGFS activities, outreach, and referral pathways.
• Ensure programmes are participatory, culturally appropriate, and survivor‑centred.
• Document activities, produce reports, and support community‑based protection initiatives.

Required profile

• Commitment to Oxfam’s mission and feminist principles.
• Knowledge of IASC and national GBV and MHPSS standards.
• Minimum 3 years of protection programming experience, preferably in WGFS, GBV response, or psychosocial support.
• Ability to work with vulnerable populations while maintaining confidentiality.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Basic English proficiency and fluency in the local language.
