Protection Team Leader

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Team Leader to oversee protection programming in Debark, Ethiopia. Reporting to the Emergency Response Manager, the role ensures high‑quality, timely implementation of protection activities, including GBV case management, psychosocial support and community‑based initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with national and international protection standards.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise field‑level protection interventions and monthly reporting.
• Lead the development and updating of service mapping, referral pathways and information hubs.
• Conduct protection, multisectoral and conflict‑sensitivity assessments and translate findings into program design.
• Deliver training on protection, gender‑sensitive approaches, psychosocial first aid and peace‑building to staff, partners and stakeholders.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and documentation of protection activities in partnership with MEAL staff.
• Collaborate closely with government authorities, local stakeholders and humanitarian partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in protection programming within humanitarian contexts.
• Strong knowledge of protection standards, GBV case management and psychosocial support.
• Ability to lead teams, coordinate assessments and produce high‑quality reports.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
