Regional Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Specialist (East Africa)

About the role

Optasia is a B2B2X fintech platform focused on financial inclusion. The Regional Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Specialist will support the growth of the micro‑finance sector across East Africa by acting as the first line of defense against regulatory risk and fostering a culture of ethics and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact with regulators to anticipate and mitigate the impact of new regulations, reporting obligations and prudential guidelines.
• Lead horizon‑scanning activities, generate early‑warning signals on regulatory changes, and disseminate findings to relevant teams.
• Support the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Compliance and Regional Compliance Managers in strategy execution and regulatory risk assessments.
• Monitor compliance with evolving laws, assess regulatory risk exposure, and help implement a robust governance framework.
• Develop training programs, marketing materials and internal presentations to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Perform general administrative duties related to regulatory reporting and documentation.
