Research Associate

About the role

PxD is looking for a Research Associate to join its high‑performing, flexible team in Addis Ababa. You will help design, pilot, and scale evidence‑backed digital agriculture services, working directly with farmers and collaborating with internal and external researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Scope, design, pilot, and scale digital agriculture services, spending time in the field with farmers.
• Collect and clean qualitative and quantitative data, including focus groups, interviews, and surveys.
• Support program teams with user‑centered product design and human‑centered design activities.
• Produce data summaries, conduct basic descriptive statistics and simple regression analysis, and contribute to report writing.
• Conduct literature reviews and desk research to shape research questions.
• Maintain and update project documentation regularly.
• Assist in managing partner relations and coordinate with external stakeholders.
• Help disseminate findings through briefs, blogs, reports, and presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, international development, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of economics, econometrics, and randomized evaluations.
• Experience conducting field research in low‑ and middle‑income countries.
• Ability to draw actionable insights from data to improve program performance.
• Experience balancing multiple projects in a multi‑faceted role.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Stata or R for data analysis.
• Experience with SurveyCTO, ODK, or similar survey design tools.
• Capability to perform basic regression analysis and descriptive statistics.
