Security Operations Center Analyst

About the role

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst position at Bunna Bank is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Addis Ababa. The analyst monitors security alerts across the bank’s IT environment, investigates potential incidents, and escalates threats following established procedures. The role also involves proactive threat hunting, log analysis, and leveraging cyber threat intelligence to identify and mitigate risks.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events across the bank’s infrastructure using SIEM and other security tools.
• Investigate and triage potential security incidents, escalating threats according to defined processes.
• Conduct cyber threat hunting activities and analyze logs to detect advanced threats.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement incident response actions and improve security controls.
• Maintain accurate security documentation, support regulatory compliance, and produce clear reports for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in a Security Operations Center environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CySA+ or similar are advantageous.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret logs, alerts, and complex security data.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow documented procedures.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SIEM tools.
• Experience with endpoint protection platforms.
• Knowledge of firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
• Proficiency in cyber threat hunting techniques.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and apply cyber threat intelligence.
• Log analysis and alert correlation skills.
