Senior Accountant – FinTech

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the day‑to‑day accounting function for eQUB, a fast‑growing fintech focused on digital savings solutions. Based in Addis Ababa, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, support budgeting and cash‑flow management, and uphold compliance with Ethiopian accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations on a daily basis.
• Prepare, review and present financial statements in line with IFRS and local regulations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to aid strategic decisions.
• Monitor cash flow, tax obligations and regulatory compliance.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes and coordinate external audit activities.
• Provide financial analysis and insights for management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve processes and build scalable financial controls.

Required profile

• Strong core accounting knowledge, including GL management and financial reporting.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial modeling.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems such as QuickBooks or Sage and advanced Excel skills.
• Good understanding of Ethiopian tax law, audit procedures and IFRS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; ACCA or CPA preferred.
• Several years of progressive accounting experience, with senior‑level responsibility; fintech experience is a plus.
• High ethical standards, accuracy and attention to detail.
