Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will ensure accurate financial record‑keeping, process all financial transactions, monitor budget performance and support the preparation of financial statements. This role is pivotal for maintaining compliance with internal policies and Ethiopian regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general ledger entries, cash handling, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable.
• Prepare and submit monthly tax declarations to ERCA before the Ethiopian calendar deadline.
• Check monthly payroll and verify related payment transactions.
• Calculate and process agents’ commission payments and other operational payables such as utilities and rent.
• Assist with annual fixed‑asset counts and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Monitor budget performance, produce variance reports and support annual budgeting processes.
• Implement and monitor internal financial controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification (e.g., B.Com, B.Sc in Accounting or equivalent).
• Proven experience in accounting, preferably in a senior or supervisory capacity.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with internal departments and external auditors.
