Senior Advisor – Pharmaceutical Supply Chain and Pharmacy Services

About the role

The Senior Advisor will provide high‑level strategic, technical and coordination support to strengthen Ethiopia’s pharmaceutical supply chain, pharmacy services and regulatory systems. Working under the State Minister’s Office and the USG SCS Project, the role focuses on institutionalising a maturity‑based performance improvement approach across national and sub‑national levels.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the State Minister’s Office on all matters related to maturity‑based pharmaceutical supply chain management, emergency response, regulatory and pharmacy service initiatives.
• Translate findings of the National Supply Chain and Pharmacy Service Maturity Assessment into strategic priorities, policy directions and actionable interventions.
• Provide technical input for the development and revision of policies, strategies, guidelines and frameworks.
• Align Performance Improvement Plans with national health and pharmaceuticals sector strategies.
• Support implementation of the bilateral MOU on supply chain and regulatory system strengthening.
• Integrate PIP interventions into routine government planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting systems.
• Facilitate the Maturity Coordination Platform, preparing agendas, briefing materials and tracking follow‑up actions.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management, regulatory systems and pharmacy services.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries, regional health bureaus and international partners.
• Experience with maturity assessments and performance improvement planning.
