Senior Global Health Security Advisor – Ethiopia

About the role

The Senior Global Health Security Advisor will work with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) to support life‑saving humanitarian assistance and strengthen the country’s capacity to prepare for, prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from infectious disease threats.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and strategic guidance to EPHI on infectious disease preparedness and response.
• Identify programmatic and strategic bottlenecks and facilitate coordinated solutions.
• Embed within EPHI to ensure alignment with U.S. Government priorities and Presidential Executive Orders.
• Support the implementation of Department of State Global Health Security (GHS) portfolio and related emergency funds.
• Facilitate collaboration between U.S. agencies and Ethiopian health authorities.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in global health security or infectious disease programs.
• Familiarity with U.S. Department of State foreign assistance programming and C/GOR processes.
• Proven ability to work within government institutions and manage multi‑stakeholder projects.
• Strong understanding of public health emergency preparedness and response frameworks.
