Senior Lecturer

About the role

Woldia University, a public higher education institution focused on inclusive, high-quality teaching, research and community engagement, is hiring a Senior Lecturer. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the lecturer designs and delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, prepares syllabi and learning materials and uses diverse teaching methods.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise student projects and theses, and advise and mentor students
• Conduct research in the lecturer's area of expertise
• Contribute to curriculum development and take part in departmental and university committees
• Engage in community and professional outreach, and collaborate with colleagues on academic initiatives
• Continue professional development and follow institutional policies and quality assurance standards

Required profile

• Advanced academic qualification (preferably a PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, with a strong record of teaching and research
• Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching, course design and assessment, including student-centered and inclusive approaches
• Evidence of scholarly activity such as publications, conference presentations or funded research projects
• Strong communication and presentation skills, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary academic environment
• Commitment to ethical conduct, equity and non-discriminatory practices
• Proficiency in educational technologies and digital tools; experience in curriculum development, program review or quality assurance is an advantage
