Senior Project Associate – Protection (Counter‑Trafficking)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Project Associate to strengthen its protection portfolio in Ethiopia, focusing on counter‑trafficking interventions. Working under the Programme Officer (Protection) and the National Officer (Protection), the incumbent will contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of protection activities for vulnerable migrants and victims of trafficking.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of specialized protection interventions, including case management for victims of trafficking (VoTs).
• Develop and facilitate capacity‑building programmes for service providers, justice actors and private‑sector partners.
• Strengthen referral mechanisms and coordinate with national authorities to ensure timely access to protection services.
• Assist in the development, advocacy and implementation of relevant legislation, policies and research outputs.
• Provide individual protection assistance and monitor the impact of interventions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in migration studies, human rights, international development or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in protection, anti‑trafficking or humanitarian programmes.
• Demonstrated experience working with government agencies, NGOs and multi‑stakeholder platforms.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
