TSFP Officer

About the role

The TSFP Officer supports health‑center nutrition activities in refugee settings, ensuring systematic screening, early detection, and referral of acute malnutrition cases. The role combines clinical follow‑up, community coordination, and technical support for Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programs (TSFP) in line with national protocols and SPHERE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support health centres in planning and conducting nutrition screening and active case finding.
• Maintain functional referral pathways between communities, health facilities, and partners.
• Provide technical assistance for TSFP food distribution, site preparation for IDPs, and community mobilisation.
• Coordinate with Community TSFP facilitators and COAs to trace defaulters and conduct home visits.
• Conduct clinical examinations, assess eligibility for OTP or SC, and identify patients needing higher‑level care.
• Ensure health facilities are equipped with MUAC tapes, registration tools, and reporting forms.
• Promote community sensitisation on nutrition screening and link TSFP with the Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP).

Required profile

• Experience in nutrition screening and management of acute malnutrition, especially for children under five and pregnant/lactating women.
• Familiarity with national nutrition protocols, SPHERE standards, and UNHCR guidance.
• Ability to train staff, coordinate with community facilitators, and manage referral systems.
• Strong organisational skills for material and supply management in field settings.
