Visual & Data Analyst

About the role

Shega is looking for a Visual & Data Analyst to turn complex data into clear, actionable visual insights. The role sits in the Knowledge & Intelligence unit and works closely with the product team on the Shega Insights platform.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, structure, and validate datasets from surveys, research, and third‑party sources, documenting methods for traceability.
• Analyze data to answer research questions, perform descriptive and comparative analysis, trend work, segmentation and basic statistical testing.
• Design charts, infographics, dashboards and other visual outputs for reports, briefs, website and social channels, ensuring accuracy and readability.
• Build and maintain reusable analysis workflows, scripts and AI‑assisted automation where reliable.
• Act as second reviewer for visual outputs, checking accuracy and brand standards before publication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Communications or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience combining data analysis with visual/graphic design, with a demonstrable portfolio.
• Strong written English and professional working proficiency in Amharic.
• Organized, self‑directed and able to manage multiple workstreams to deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets.
• Proficiency in at least one analysis tool such as SQL, Python or R.
• Experience building dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio or equivalent.
• Professional design capability in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or Figma.
• Solid grounding in data visualization principles and accessibility.
