WASH and Shelter Manager - Dollo Ado

About the role

NRC Ethiopia is seeking an experienced, results-driven WASH & Shelter Manager for its Melkedida Field Office in Dollo Ado. The role leads and strengthens NRC's WASH and Shelter portfolio so that crisis-affected populations receive timely, high-quality and sustainable assistance. It is open to Ethiopian nationals only.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic, operational and technical leadership across the full project cycle, from needs assessments and response design to proposals, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Oversee project teams, ensure sound financial and budget management, and drive programme quality in line with NRC standards and donor requirements.
• Work with local authorities, partners, communities and coordination platforms to strengthen accountability, community participation and the integration of protection, gender, age, disability inclusion, environmental sustainability and disaster risk reduction.
• Lead planning, implementation and monitoring of WASH and Shelter activities, including sector assessments, concept notes and project proposals, and supervise and build the capacity of staff.
• Represent NRC with donors, partners and coordination bodies and contribute to resource mobilization and strategic planning.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years' experience in a senior-level project implementation role, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, water resources, hydraulic, environmental, water supply and sanitation or construction engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in shelter and WASH programming in a refugee context, in complex and volatile settings, and in donor engagement.
• Knowledge of WASH and Shelter and Settlement/Housing sector stakeholders in Ethiopia and familiarity with sector standards.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

• 12-month contract with travel of up to 80%.
• Salary at grade 8 on NRC's Resident salary scale.
