Compliance and Systems Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Compliance and Systems Director (CSD) is a senior member of the Ethiopia country programme management team. Reporting to the Country Director, the CSD ensures that People in Need complies with all internal policies, donor contractual requirements and external regulations while overseeing the core support systems for logistics, procurement, finance and HR.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight on compliance with donor contracts, internal procedures and relevant legal frameworks.
• Interpret and implement contractual requirements across all programme areas.
• Lead and improve the operational systems for logistics, procurement, finance and human resources.
• Collaborate with programme staff to create an enabling environment for effective programme delivery.
• Monitor, report and mitigate compliance risks, ensuring timely corrective actions.
• Support the development of policies, tools and training related to compliance and systems management.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in compliance, systems or programme support within an international NGO or humanitarian organisation.
• Strong knowledge of donor regulations, procurement standards and financial management practices.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional areas and lead change.
