Product Specialist – Merchant & Agent Credit

About the role

The Product Specialist – Merchant & Agent Credit will lead the end‑to‑end creation and execution of Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia’s M‑PESA growth strategy. Based in the MPESA Products and B2C Segments department, you will design credit and savings solutions for merchants and agents, expanding financial inclusion across Ethiopia. You will be responsible for shaping product road‑maps, defining credit criteria, and driving adoption among the merchant network.

Key responsibilities

• Design and launch credit and savings products tailored for merchants and agents, addressing their specific financing needs.
• Forge and manage partnerships with banks and fintech companies to broaden the ecosystem and enhance product offerings.
• Collaborate closely with product, risk, operations and technology teams to ensure secure, scalable digital financial services.
• Monitor product performance, gather feedback, and iterate solutions to improve user experience and financial inclusion.

Required profile

• Experience in developing digital financial products or services, with a focus on credit and savings solutions.
• Understanding of merchant and agent ecosystems, including credit needs and savings behaviors.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with product, risk, operations and technology stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
