Project Director – Faith and Community Initiative (FCI)

About the role

World Vision is seeking a senior leader to head the Faith and Community Initiative (FCI) in Ethiopia. The Project Director will oversee program delivery, ensure alignment with global strategy, and drive the transition of services to government and faith‑based ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management of the FCI country program, delivering goals, objectives and results on time and within budget.
• Lead country‑level planning, adapt global guidelines to the local context and set work plans and performance targets.
• Implement global standards, donor guidelines and technical best practices at the country level.
• Maintain the 80/20 efficiency commitment and advance the sustainability roadmap.
• Serve as the primary in‑country point of contact for the U.S. Embassy, GHSD team and other partners.
• Manage relationships with ministries of health, finance and sub‑national authorities.
• Build and sustain partnerships with Christian Health Associations, faith‑based networks and other strategic partners.
• Represent FCI on national steering committees and coordinate with other PEPFAR/GHSD programs.
• Lead high‑level negotiations for the progressive transition of activities, health workers, facilities and data systems to government ownership.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in health or development programs, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including government, faith‑based organizations and international donors.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, technical standards and performance monitoring.
• Experience in negotiating and implementing transition plans toward government ownership.
• Excellent communication and representation skills at national and diplomatic levels.
