Protection Officer – Monitoring

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Officer – Monitoring to lead field‑based protection monitoring in Addis Ababa. Reporting to the Protection Manager, the officer will plan and execute monitoring visits, collect and encode data, refer individuals at risk, and produce timely reports on protection trends.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a work plan for protection monitoring in identified sites.
• Carry out monitoring activities using standardized tools such as Key Information Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and observation.
• Ensure data collection complies with international standards and DRC guidelines.
• Analyse collected information, map services, and support referrals for individuals with specific needs.
• Collaborate with sector teams and partners to integrate information sharing and maintain referral mechanisms.
• Conduct community awareness sessions on protection risks and mitigation strategies.
• Maintain regular contact with community groups to develop action plans addressing identified risks.

Required profile

• Qualified professional with experience in protection monitoring and humanitarian contexts.
• Proven ability to conduct field visits, collect qualitative data, and produce analytical reports.
• Strong collaboration skills to work across sectors and with external partners.
• Knowledge of international protection standards and best practices.
