Protection Officer – Protection Case Management

About the role

Under the supervision of the Protection Project Manager, the Protection Officer – Protection Case Management will lead case‑management activities for people on the move in Jigjiga and Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. The role ensures that vulnerable individuals receive timely, rights‑based protection services in line with international standards and DRC SOPs.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protection case‑management processes according to global protection cluster guidelines and DRC SOPs.
• Identify, assess, plan, intervene and follow‑up on cases for vulnerable beneficiaries.
• Conduct regular service mapping and maintain functional referral pathways in migration hotspots, including Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Jigjiga and Togochale.
• Coordinate health, MHPSS, legal and other essential services with UN agencies, INGOs, local CSOs and national partners.
• Facilitate cross‑border case management and convene case conferences for complex cases.
• Manage Cash for Protection (C4P) to enable life‑saving assistance for those at imminent risk.
• Prepare and share weekly, bi‑weekly and monthly reports with supervisors and technical teams.

Required profile

• Qualified protection professional with experience in humanitarian case management.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi‑sectoral partners and coordinate referral networks.
• Strong understanding of protection standards, migration issues and rights‑based approaches.
• Excellent reporting and documentation skills.
