Purchasing Officer

About the role

The Shaggar Institute of Technology is looking for a detail‑oriented Purchasing Officer to manage day‑to‑day sourcing activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining and assessing quotations, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring that all procurement records are audit‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Collect quotations from suppliers and evaluate prices against requirements.
• Prepare purchase orders and route them through the established approval chains.
• Track delivery of purchased items and follow up on any delays.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and audit trails.
• Coordinate closely with the logistics and property units to keep supplies flowing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university.
• Minimum of two years of relevant purchasing or procurement experience.
• Professional certification such as CIPS or CPSM is a strong advantage.
• Good knowledge of Ethiopian procurement laws.
• Excellent communication skills in English, Afaan Oromo and Amharic.
