Regional Technical Advisor I – Polio (East Africa)

About the role

The East Africa Regional Technical Advisor I, Polio will provide strategic and technical leadership for the STRIDES activity, ensuring polio eradication efforts—including surveillance, laboratory strengthening, and data analysis—are aligned with global guidance and donor regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of STRIDES polio activities across participating East African countries.
• Provide technical oversight and troubleshoot implementation challenges.
• Mentor and build capacity of country teams, local partners, and government counterparts.
• Develop tools, guidance, and learning products to strengthen the polio portfolio.
• Represent STRIDES with donors and key stakeholders such as the U.S. State Department, UNICEF, CDC, and GPEI groups.
• Collaborate with FHI 360, consortium and local partners to ensure coordinated, compliant delivery.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in polio eradication, infectious disease surveillance, and laboratory operations.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑country teams and international donors.
• Strong analytical skills for data quality and outbreak preparedness.
• Demonstrated judgment in handling complex technical problems.
