Senior Finance Officer

About the role

Awash Capital S.C., a licensed investment bank in Ethiopia, is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to lead its financial reporting, accounting, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting functions. The role will ensure all financial activities align with IFRS and local regulatory requirements while supporting the bank's fast‑paced investment‑banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and support timely month‑end and year‑end closings.
• Submit statutory reports to the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority, Ethiopian Securities Exchange, and Central Securities Depository.
• File VAT, withholding, income, payroll, and other tax returns as required.
• Manage cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and oversee segregation of client funds.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling activities.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes.
• Account for investment‑banking and advisory fees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MSc or MBA preferred).
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or active registration with the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, including at least 2 years in a senior finance position.
• Experience in financial services or a regulated financial institution is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS.
• Good understanding of Ethiopian tax law and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Peachtree or Sage accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (advantageous).
