Accounts Assistant Intern

About the role

Operation Smile Ethiopia is seeking a motivated Accounts Assistant Intern to support its finance team. This non‑employment internship is based at the Addis Ababa head office and offers hands‑on experience in accounting and financial administration within a nonprofit environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Finance and Operations Manager (FOM) with routine finance activities.
• Support program coordinators at partner hospitals with payments for transportation, meals, and accommodation for patients.
• Prepare documents and facilitate timely payment of training and workshop expenses.
• Track financial transactions, collect expense reports, and organize documents for weekly financial reporting.
• Scan and file financial documents, and accompany the FOM to banks, tax authorities, and other government agencies.
• Enter monthly purchase data, income tax, pension, and withholding statistics into the government platform and retain receipts.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a recognized university.
• Zero years of professional experience (entry‑level).
• Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Amharic.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional work outside regular office time.
