Carbon Pricing Senior Officer

About the role

The Carbon Pricing Senior Officer will be based in Addis Ababa and will lead the implementation of the Ethiopia Article 6 Readiness project. Reporting to the GGGI Ethiopia Country Representative and the Regional Director, the officer will act as the primary focal point for the project, ensuring high‑quality and timely delivery of all activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the Ethiopia Readiness project, coordinating all technical and strategic components.
• Serve as the recognized focal point for the project in Ethiopia, managing stakeholder relationships with government agencies and partners.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance on Article 6 concepts, carbon market frameworks, and mitigation activity idea development.
• Ensure timely, high‑quality project outputs and reporting to GGGI senior management.
• Liaise with external partners to facilitate capacity‑building, technical assistance, and knowledge exchange.
• Support the Ethiopian government in advancing its carbon market framework and operationalising Article 6 requirements.

Required profile

• Significant experience in international carbon markets, preferably with exposure to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
• Proven ability to quickly absorb and apply complex technical concepts.
• Strong analytical, coordination and project‑management skills.
• Experience working with government entities and multilateral donors.
• Senior‑level professional with a track record of delivering results in climate‑related projects.
