Driver Mechanic – Transport & Vehicle Maintenance

About the role

The Driver Mechanic provides safe, reliable driving services and performs basic mechanical maintenance on project vehicles supporting Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP) activities. This role ensures timely transportation of commodities, staff, and program materials while keeping vehicles in good operational condition.

Key responsibilities

• Transport TSFP commodities, supplies, staff and visitors to project sites, warehouses, health facilities and distribution points, following approved routes and security procedures.
• Carry out routine vehicle checks and preventive maintenance such as oil, water, brakes, tires, lights and battery inspections.
• Perform basic mechanical repairs and troubleshooting to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, mileage and service schedules.
• Ensure all vehicle documents (insurance, licence, inspection certificates) are valid and available.
• Observe traffic laws, organisational fleet policies and safety standards, reporting accidents or mechanical failures promptly.
• Assist logistics and TSFP teams with loading, unloading and field distributions, including emergency response support.

Required profile

• Valid driving licence appropriate for project vehicles.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience as a driver/mechanic.
• Certificate or training in auto mechanics or a related technical field (preferred).
• Ability to work extended hours and travel to remote locations during peak TSFP activities.
