Governance & Rule of Law Internship (National Applicants)

About the role

The Governance and Rule of Law Internship supports UNDP's Governance and Peacebuilding programme, which aims to strengthen democratic governance, public participation, and the rule of law across Africa. Interns will work closely with the team implementing the Renewed Governance and Peacebuilding Framework for Africa, contributing to research, analysis, and outreach activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing policy briefs, reports, and background notes on governance, rule of law, and peacebuilding topics.
• Conduct literature reviews and data collection to support programme monitoring and evaluation.
• Support the organization of workshops, webinars, and stakeholder consultations.
• Contribute to the development of communication materials that promote citizen participation and accountability.
• Provide administrative support to the Governance and Peacebuilding team as needed.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university programme related to political science, international relations, law, public policy, or a related field.
• Strong interest in governance, rule of law, and peacebuilding issues in Africa.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
