Senior Avocado & Trials Coordinator – Ethiopia (Fixed‑term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a Senior Avocado and Trials Coordinator to lead avocado nursery operations and innovation trials in South and Central Ethiopia. The role combines hands‑on nursery management with field trial execution to increase farmer impact through high‑value tree crops.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee establishment, infrastructure, and daily workflows of central avocado nurseries in South and Central Ethiopia.
• Support decentralized avocado production sites, ensuring adherence to agronomic best practices for grafting, watering, and pest‑disease control.
• Implement rapid problem‑solving processes to remove bottlenecks and standardize production metrics across sites.
• Monitor post‑grafting survival rates and maintain seedling quality through structured verification routines.
• Direct hands‑on management of non‑avocado product innovation trials (e.g., shade‑net trials) at research stations or core nurseries.
• Design or adapt data‑collection tools to capture trial‑specific metrics and own end‑to‑end data quality.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience managing tree nurseries or agricultural trial programs.
• Proven ability to lead teams in both central and decentralized field environments.
• Strong agronomic knowledge, especially in grafting, irrigation scheduling, and pest‑disease management.
• Excellent organizational skills with a focus on data accuracy and operational efficiency.
