Senior Environmental Specialist

About the role

The World Bank Group is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to join its Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) region team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The position supports the Bank’s mission to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity across 26 diverse countries, ranging from the Red Sea to the Cape of Good Hope. The ESA region is home to roughly 700 million people, with half under the age of 18, and faces significant development challenges including protracted conflicts, fragile institutions, and gaps in education, health, and skills development. The role will contribute to the Bank’s strategic priorities of creating jobs, building a digital economy, strengthening institutions, and investing in people, all within the context of environmental safeguards and sustainable development.
