Senior Finance Associate – Reporting & Budgeting

About the role

The Senior Finance Associate will support the Resources Management function for IOM’s Country Office and Special Liaison Office in Addis Ababa. Reporting to the Head of Resources Management and the Resources Management Officer, the role ensures sound financial governance, budgeting and reporting across programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide procedural guidance, supervision and training to finance support staff.
• Manage financial resources, monitor assets, reserves, funds and supplies in line with IOM regulations.
• Advise Project Managers and senior office leaders on financial and administrative matters.
• Prepare and revise annual budget submissions, estimating staff costs, rentals, utilities, equipment and services.
• Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures and rules.
• Consolidate data into financial statements and track expenditures against authorized limits.
• Produce regular and ad‑hoc financial information to support decision‑making.
• Ensure timely bank reconciliations and review by designated stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Significant experience in financial management, preferably within an international organization or UN agency.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, budgeting processes and reporting standards.
• Ability to supervise, guide and train junior finance staff.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
