About the role
The Social Affairs Officer will support the Sustainable Development and Integrated Planning Section (SDIPS) of the Economic Commission for Africa, reporting to the Chief of SDIPS. The role contributes to the analysis of sustainable development, development planning and urban development issues across multiple levels.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in the analysis of sustainable development, development planning and urban development issues at global, regional, national and sub‑national levels.
- Undertake empirical research, trend analysis and policy assessment relevant to the Division’s mandate and projects.
- Develop indicators and methodologies for reviewing and evaluating sustainable development, urban development and integrated planning.
- Liaise with government officials, UN agencies and other partners on policy issues and provide advice for programmes, action plans and initiatives.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports for intergovernmental bodies and member states.
