Team Leader – Democratic Governance & Peacebuilding (DGP)

About the role

UNDP is seeking a Team Leader to drive democratic governance and peacebuilding initiatives in Ethiopia. The role will support the country’s 10‑Year National Development Plan and the UNDP Governance and Peacebuilding Framework, working closely with the Government of Ethiopia and development partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of governance and peacebuilding programmes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Provide technical assistance to federal, regional and sub‑regional institutions to strengthen democratic processes, rule of law and conflict prevention.
• Coordinate South‑South knowledge exchange, resource mobilisation and partnership building with government, civil society and UN agencies.
• Develop risk‑management and anticipatory approaches to “future‑proof” governance systems.
• Oversee programme reporting, results measurement and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in political science, public administration, international relations or a related field.
• Extensive experience in democratic governance, peacebuilding or institutional strengthening, preferably in an African context.
• Proven track record of managing multi‑stakeholder programmes and delivering results in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of the UNDP governance signature solutions and the African Renewed Governance and Peacebuilding Framework.
