About the role

The African Union is offering a 2026 Internship Programme for students and recent graduates from AU Member States. Interns will be based at the AU Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and will gain hands‑on experience in continental policy‑making, multicultural teamwork and development projects.

Required profile

  • National of an African Union Member State.
  • Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or holder of a bachelor’s/post‑graduate degree.
  • Maximum age of 32 at the time of selection.
  • Demonstrated integrity and no serious criminal convictions.
  • Fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French or Portuguese).

Required skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good knowledge of email and internet applications.

Internship details

  • Full‑time placement for three months, with the possibility of a one‑time renewal.
  • Unpaid position; interns are responsible for travel, accommodation and living expenses.
  • The AU may assist with entry and residence visas where necessary.
