Area General Manager – Ethiopia

About the role

The Area General Manager will lead all The First Group Hospitality‑managed hotels and food & beverage operations across Ethiopia. Reporting to senior corporate leadership, you will be responsible for guest satisfaction, financial performance, brand compliance and the development of local talent.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall country‑level leadership, acting as the senior in‑country representative and champion of the company culture.
• Drive operational excellence across properties, ensuring targets for NPS, GOP, cost control and service quality are met.
• Oversee pre‑opening activities, including budgeting, staffing, training and OS&E procurement to ensure new hotels launch on schedule.
• Lead and own the performance of standalone food & beverage outlets, from concept development through opening and stabilization.
• Collaborate with central commercial, sales, revenue and marketing teams to optimise pricing, segmentation and channel strategies.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, safety regulations, licensing requirements and USALI financial reporting standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Senior hotel operations leadership experience across multiple properties, with strong exposure to food & beverage operations.
• Proven track record of managing hotel openings and scaling food & beverage concepts.
• Demonstrated financial acumen with responsibility for GOP, cost control and P&L performance.
• Ethiopian nationality strongly preferred, with deep knowledge of the local market, culture and regulatory environment.
