Building & Utilities Electrician

About the role

Under the supervision of the Building & Utility Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems that support tobacco processing facilities, utilities and building infrastructure. The role ensures reliable power supply, equipment availability and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on LV distribution boards, MCCs, control panels, motors, generators, ATS, UPS and lighting systems.
• Monitor and maintain tobacco curing barns, associated sensors and electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore equipment promptly.
• Monitor generator performance, fuel level, oil, radiator, battery condition and electrical output.
• Operate and maintain water pumps, fuel pumps, HVAC systems and other utility equipment.
• Support grading machines, conveyor belts, press machines and misting systems by resolving electrical issues.
• Conduct shift handovers and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements and company EHS standards.
• Report major failures and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electricity, Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in industrial electrical maintenance and utility systems.
• Ability to work shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns.

Required skills

• Knowledge of LV distribution boards, MCCs, VFDs and control circuits.
• Experience with motors, generators, ATS, UPS and lighting systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and fault‑diagnosis abilities.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance of industrial equipment and utility systems.
• Understanding of generator operation and utility equipment maintenance.
• Familiarity with electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout and EHS standards.
