Business Development Manager – Steel Trading (Ethiopia)

About the role

Drive business development across Ethiopia, identifying lucrative opportunities in the steel sector, including HRC, CRC, GI, and PPGI. The role focuses on expanding market share and establishing strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing, and long‑term account management.
• Analyze Ethiopian market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning, and regional demand to develop localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, logistics, and finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
• Cultivate relationships with existing clients while aggressively acquiring new accounts to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Ethiopian trade events and industry associations to enhance brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent English for business communication.
• Minimum 3 years of international steel trading experience with a proven import/export track record.
• Strong negotiation abilities, commercial acumen and an established network within the Ethiopian steel industry.
• Self‑starter able to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.
