Driver for Humanitarian Projects in Ethiopia

About the role

People in Need (PIN) is seeking two disciplined and reliable drivers to support its humanitarian programmes across Ethiopia. Based in Shire, the drivers will provide safe transportation for staff, deliver messages to partners and ensure vehicles are well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Drive PIN vehicles according to the schedule set by the fleet officer.
• Deliver PIN correspondence to organisations, ministries and companies as required.
• Perform daily vehicle security checks (tires, battery, fuel, oil, radiator water) before and after each trip.
• Maintain accurate journey and fuel records in the daily vehicle logbook app.
• Report any faults, damages or accidents immediately to the Transport Officer or Senior Supervisor.
• Ensure the vehicle follows the organisation’s maintenance schedule and inform the chief mechanic of any issues.

Required profile

• Energetic, disciplined and responsible with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in various Ethiopian regions.
• Ability to follow PIN’s driving policy and one‑vehicle‑one‑driver rule.
• Good basic literacy for record‑keeping and reporting.

Required skills

• Safe and defensive driving techniques.
• Basic vehicle inspection and maintenance awareness.
• Accurate log‑book and fuel‑record management.
