Nutrition Officer (NO-2) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Nutrition Officer (NO-2) will support UNICEF Ethiopia’s nutrition programmes, from planning through delivery and reporting. Working from the Hawassa office, the officer will contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of nutrition interventions that address the complex emergencies affecting children and families across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and update situation analyses to inform nutrition programme design and management.
• Assist in developing sectoral goals, objectives, strategies and results‑based plans based on identified nutrition needs.
• Provide technical and operational support throughout all programme stages, including implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Collaborate with partners, government agencies and UNICEF teams to ensure coordinated and effective nutrition responses.
• Prepare technical documents, progress reports and contribute to programme reviews.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Experience in nutrition programme development, implementation or monitoring, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to produce evidence‑based recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of nutrition assessment, intervention planning and monitoring.
• Ability to conduct situation analyses and data‑driven programme design.
