Senior Project Associate – Immigration & Border Governance

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Project Associate to support the implementation of Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) projects in Ethiopia. The role focuses on the Ethiopia component of a regional counter‑smuggling initiative and other related border‑management activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the technical, operational and administrative delivery of IBG projects, especially the counter‑smuggling component.
• Coordinate activities related to border solutions, including document verification systems, identity and border management tools, and MIDAS‑related tasks.
• Support curriculum development, training material preparation, and capacity‑building for government counterparts and training institutions.
• Participate in field assessments, site visits and missions to evaluate border‑management processes.
• Provide logistical and reporting support to the Programme Officer (IBG) and National Programme Officer (IBG).

Required profile

• University degree in international relations, migration studies, public administration, or a related field.
• Significant experience in project coordination or implementation within migration, border management or development contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government agencies, NGOs and inter‑governmental partners.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with attention to detail.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
